The OMEGA Speedmaster is one of the Maison's most iconic models. The Moonwatch "First Omega in Space" is inspired by the model worn by astronaut Wally Shirra in 1962 during the Sigma 7 mission sent into orbit around the Earth.
This numbered edition model features a bold black varnished dial with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, punctuated by a small seconds counter, a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter, not to mention the central chronograph hand. The black bezel, featuring a tachymeter scale, is mounted on a 39.7 mm stainless steel case with a brown leather strap.
This chronograph is powered by the OMEGA 1861 mechanical calibre, the famous hand-wound movement worn during lunar missions. The caseback is embossed with the seahorse, like the 1962 model.
